Hiking with the Snowmakers on Heavenly Mountain

The snow team lovingly called the “midnight riders” must have been furiously making snow for the skiers all night long. I had never seen a snow making machine before and certainly had never tried running past one, but that morning we did. Seattle, The Emerald City in 48 Hours

Why is it called the Emerald City? I didn’t know that it was before we arrived, but I was told that back in the 1980’s a local organization
